About the service

Details, visit flow and expected effects.

What is bruxism and temporomandibular joint therapy?

Bruxism therapy is specialist manual work focused on the muscles of the face, jaw and neck and on the temporomandibular joint area. It is intended for people who clench or grind their teeth or experience pain, stiffness and fatigue in the chewing muscles.

The session combines techniques performed externally with intraoral massage, carried out gently with disposable gloves from inside the cheek. Depending on your needs, the treatment may also include temporomandibular joint mobilisation and work on tension around the neck.

What happens during the session?

The visit begins with a short discussion of your symptoms, their intensity and situations in which jaw clenching most often occurs. The therapist assesses the chewing muscles, comfort of mouth opening and jaw movement. This allows the techniques to be adapted to your current needs.

External manual work

The first part includes manual work on the face, masseter muscles, temples, jaw, neck and upper cervical area. It gradually releases tension and prepares the tissues for more precise treatment.

Intraoral massage

During the intraoral part, the therapist uses disposable gloves to work from the inner surface of the cheek. This provides access to deeper muscles involved in jaw movement and stability. The technique is performed slowly and with close attention to your comfort.

Joint mobilisation and guidance

When appropriate, the session includes gentle temporomandibular joint mobilisation. You may also receive simple guidance concerning a relaxed resting position for the jaw, everyday habits or exercises supporting relaxation between visits.

When may this service be helpful?

  • teeth grinding or frequent jaw clenching,
  • pain and tension around the jaw, cheeks, temples or neck,
  • tension-type headaches accompanied by overloaded facial muscles,
  • tired chewing muscles, particularly in the morning or after a stressful day,
  • limited or uncomfortable mouth opening,
  • temporomandibular dysfunction suitable for conservative manual therapy.

What results can you expect?

The aim is to reduce perceived tension and pain, improve comfortable jaw movement and release the face and neck. Responses vary. Longer-lasting problems may benefit from several visits combined with self-management and, when needed, dental or medical assessment.

Manual therapy does not protect teeth from wear and does not replace a dental splint prescribed by a dentist. It is a conservative form of support for muscle tension and jaw function.

How should you prepare?

No special preparation is needed. Please maintain normal oral hygiene and tell the therapist about orthodontic appliances, recent dental treatment, injuries, medication and relevant health conditions.

When should the session be postponed?

Contact us before booking if you have an active infection, fever, cold sores, inflammation or damaged tissues around the mouth and face, a recent injury, or recent dental or surgical treatment. Sudden severe pain, swelling, trauma or jaw locking requires prior medical or dental assessment.

Duration and price

The session lasts 45 minutes and costs 250 PLN. The number and frequency of any follow-up visits are selected individually according to your symptoms and response.
