Deep Tissue Therapy

Deep tissue therapy is based on layered tissue work, aiming to release persistent tension within the human body. This method allows for an energy-efficient and highly effective approach to address muscle and fascial tension associated with musculoskeletal dysfunctions and postural issues. Deep tissue massage is often misunderstood and wrongly associated with strong and painful manipulation of muscles. In reality, the technique does not necessarily involve exerting strong pressure on tissues and can be gentle and mild. Each movement is executed very slowly, with great precision and appropriately adjusted pressure.

The goals of deep tissue massage include:

  • Pain reduction
  • Normalization of muscle and fascial tension
  • Restoration of better posture
  • Improvement in range of motion

I support the massage by engaging the patient’s breath and encourage active participation in the process.

Indications for deep tissue massage:

  • Chronic muscle pain
  • Reduced joint mobility
  • Tendon and muscle contractures
  • Post-immobilization conditions
  • Skin conditions (nutritional disorders, postoperative scars)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow
  • Spinal pain syndrome
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Tension headaches
  • Postural abnormalities
  • Muscular system diseases (prevention and treatment of muscle atrophy, relaxation of respiratory muscles, post-traumatic conditions, muscle atrophy/weakness/paralysis)

Contraindications:

  • Fever, viral infections
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Nerve compression
  • Tumors
  • Inflammation of veins
  • Early periods after severe injuries
  • Inflammation of fascia
  • Calcification and ossification.
